The first-generation college student from Dodge City not only undertook a rigorous curriculum that included fluid mechanics and calculus, but he also served as president of his fraternity during his demanding senior year.

May 12, 2020 鈥� 歐聯積分榜's Team Wire Pullers has advanced to the national competition in the Koch Innovation Challenge. The team 鈥� comprised of Braden Botkin, a sophomore in engineering technology; Adam Brown, a freshman in engineering; and Nicholas Ridpath, a freshman in applied computing 鈥� created a magnetic device to make pulling wires through walls easier.

May 11, 2020 -- Students in the Service in Learning Engineering class have found a way to help Kansas Girl Scouts earn their STEM badges from home.

May 7, 2020 -- For the fourth consecutive time, the 歐聯積分榜 College of Engineering鈥檚 NASA in Kansas program has secured a multi-year, multi-million-dollar grant. The latest four-year award is for $2.8 million.

May 5, 2020 鈥� Scraping frost from your automobile windshield before you can safely drive can be time-consuming and unpleasant, but a new device called Shiver could make it a little easier. WSU engineering students Rafael Bini Leite and Jefferson Vieira are developing a device that attaches to the windshield and has built-in sensors capable of detecting ice on the windshield, allowing motorists to clean and remove it effortlessly before it builds up.

April 20, 2020 -- Aidan Jude 鈥� a spring 2020 歐聯積分榜 graduate in electrical engineering, computer engineering and mathematics 鈥� will be embarking on a full-time career as a software engineer for Amazon web services in July.

April 16, 2020 -- Many 歐聯積分榜 freshmen enter college with undecided majors. WSU offers programs that expose students to different fields of work so they will be informed when deciding on their major. One of these programs is the Summer Research Institute.

April 10, 2020 - 歐聯積分榜 computer science major Dexter Gerig placed first in the Individual Event of the National Cyber League competition.The cybersecurity competition, over two days and eight hours, involved a series of 40 challenges with 155 questions.

April 9, 2020 - 歐聯積分榜 faculty, staff and students are helping each other deal with the pandemic. Whether it's a fun Zoom meeting, a phone call or help with a technology question, examples are abundant of people working together in a difficult time.

April 2, 2020 - 歐聯積分榜 softball pitcher Caitlin Bingham is sewing protective masks for medical personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

March 30, 2020 - The relationship between 歐聯積分榜's College of Engineering and the Wichita Police Department led to 3D printing of face shields used by first responders.

The 歐聯積分榜 Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College is proud to announce eight recipients of the Koch Scholars program for the fall 2020 semester. Each of the students will receive between $30,000 and $45,000 during their four-year attendance at WSU.

March 11, 2020 -- Three 歐聯積分榜 researchers and a student group have been awarded the John A. See Innovation Award.

Feb. 26, 2020 -- 歐聯積分榜 and WSU Ventures have entered into a new strategic partnership with California-based Lightning Diversion Systems, a Ducommun Company. The partnership involves the exclusive licensing of a lightning strike protection system for rotor blades in the wind turbine industry.

Feb. 20, 2020 -- Dane Laughlin started working for INVISTA, Koch Industries鈥� textiles, polymers, fiber and resin producer, while he was a biomedical engineering student at 歐聯積分榜 and got hired on full time after graduating in May 2019.

Feb. 7 2020 -- Ten high school seniors have won the 2020 Wallace Scholarship in engineering to attend 歐聯積分榜.

Feb. 5, 2020 -- Thanks to a generous gift from utility company Evergy, students in the College of Engineering at 歐聯積分榜 can learn about and conduct research on solar power technology, as well as how to protect an electric grid from short circuiting.

Jan. 31, 2020 -- 歐聯積分榜 has selected the 2020 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend 歐聯積分榜 in August 2020.

Dec. 19, 2019 -- Those interested in a career in biomedical engineering just received another degree option that鈥檚 closer to home. 歐聯積分榜 and Butler Community College have joined forces to create a 2+2 agreement that articulates a complete four-year plan of study in biomedical engineering.

Dec. 18, 2019 -- Stanford University鈥檚 Hasso Plattner Institute of Design has named three 歐聯積分榜 students as University Innovation Fellows. Jacob Burns, Molly Carlson and Savannah Redfern will join more than 2,000 Fellows at 267 institutions worldwide.

Dec. 13, 2019 -- Katlyn, a student at USD 259鈥檚 Levy Special Education Center, has cerebral palsy and is nonverbal. Three 歐聯積分榜 Engineering students have made communication a lot easier for her as a class project this semester.

Dec. 9, 2019 -- A $1.25 million gift from the estate of 歐聯積分榜 alumnus Brenton D. Myers will support the WSU College of Engineering, where Myers earned the degree that helped him build a lifelong career in engineering and airport planning.

Dec. 9, 2019 --聽Five teams of 歐聯積分榜 students emerged as finalists in the Koch Innovation Challenge, held Dec. 6.

Dec. 6, 2019 -- The fourth annual Koch Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Koch Industries and held at 歐聯積分榜, will take place from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, Dec. 6, in 107 Devlin Hall. Teams compiled from the Introduction to Technology & Innovation Freshman seminar course compete for funding to pursue their big idea venture.

Dec. 4, 2019 -- Javier Martinez and Jonathan Lozano hadn鈥檛 even intended to earn 歐聯積分榜鈥檚 inaugural Parkinson Scholarship in 2018, but they did. Both first-generation college students share their stories of adversity and triumph and offer words of encouragement for future first-gen college hopefuls.
