Tour Option 1: NIAR 3DEXPERIENCE Center & NIAR ATLAS
3DEXPERIENCE Center
- Additive Manufacturing Lab
The Additive Manufacturing Laboratory supports local and national industry to build 3D prototype models from various materials. Prototype parts can then be used to test for fit, form and function. Parts can vary from small, intricate models, to much larger mockups. - Reverse Engineering Lab
The Reverse Engineering Laboratory supports local and national industry to create 3D models from physical parts and products. Within one lab, we can reverse engineer a part, make design modifications and inspect to the new design or original CAD data. - Automation Research Center (ARC)
MISSION: Revolutionize manufacturing, quality control, and material handling by minimizing manual labor and maximizing efficiency. NIAR ARC tackles unsolved problems across multiple industries, transforming complex processes with cutting-edge technology. ARC specializes in integrated automation, seamlessly connecting devices under a single control system. The lab’s approach ensures smooth communication between machines and production lines - delivering streamlined, highly efficient operations. - eXtended Reality Lab
U.S. ITAR compliant
NIAR’s eXtended Reality (XR) Lab is part of the 3DEXPERIENCE Center. It is a unique 3D environment for product evaluation and use scenarios and is home to the largest flexible virtual reality cave in the world, allowing users to interact with full-scale simulations of physical objects and environments. Compatibility with multiple graphical software packages allows users to import various file formats. Adjacent collaboration rooms are available for client design teams for design sprints or web-accessed design reviews. - NIAR Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems (ATLAS)
U.S. ITAR compliant
ATLAS – the Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems – is a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment and an engineering education program to prepare engineers and educators for the Factory of the Future and to aid the current workforce in seamlessly adapting to advancements in the workplace. ATLAS provides a neutral ground for advanced manufacturing research and development with state-of-the-art machines, software and processing options.
Tour Option 2: National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT)
4004 N Webb Rd, Wichita, KS - Meet in the Student Center
- NIAR Additive Manufacturing & Emerging Technology Lab
The Additive Manufacturing Laboratory supports local and national industry to build 3D prototype models from various materials. Prototype parts can then be used to test for fit, form and function. Parts can vary from small, intricate models, to much larger mockups. -
Working with industry recognized visual programming environments and a state-of-the-art robotics laboratory, students will apply cutting edge robotics research and electronic and mechanical systems to support the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Students will gain the skills that support the design, build, implementation and data collection of IIoT using electronic sensors, small computer hardware and applications to collect, translate and deliver data to analytical business systems.
Students will learn to program Programable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), communicate between PLC’s and robots, set up HMI’s (human machine interface) to control and monitor the process, and even explore new advancements in Smart Factory environments such as machine learning and AI.
Tour Option 3: NIAR Advanced Machining & Prototyping Lab (AMP)
8351 N Hydraulic, Park City, Kansas
Enter through center NIAR gate on Hydraulic, parking in front of the AMP Lab
U.S. ITAR compliant.
- NIAR’s Advanced Machining and Prototyping Lab has a strong history of providing support to the aviation and manufacturing industries. The lab is dedicated to continued research in new materials and methods of subtractive and additive manufacturing.
